The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam has invited online applications for 200 posts of Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and its allied cadre under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Eligible Indian citizens who are permanent residents of Assam may submit their online applications from 3 September to 23 September 2026.
Candidates must have passed the full-time HSSLC or Class 12 examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects. The recruitment includes an OMR-based written test followed by mandatory departmental training for selected candidates.

Pay Scale: Pay Band-2 of ₹14,000 to ₹70,000 with Grade Pay of ₹6,200 and other admissible allowances.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed the full-time HSSLC or Class 12 examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects from a recognized Board, Council or University.
Citizenship and Residency: The candidate must be an Indian citizen as defined under Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and a permanent resident of Assam. A valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam must be uploaded as proof of domicile.
Caste Certificate: Candidates seeking reservation under SC, ST, OBC or MOBC must upload a caste certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of Assam, clearly indicating the caste, the order under which it is recognized, and the candidate’s village or town of residence.
PwBD Eligibility: Candidates applying under the PwBD category must possess a Benchmark Disability of 40% or more and must produce a certificate issued by the competent authority.
Ex-Servicemen Requirement: Ex-Servicemen candidates must upload their Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam, along with the Discharge Book, while applying for the reserved post.
Reservation for Women: 60 posts are reserved for women within the respective categories, including 34 UR, 22 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC and 3 ST(P) posts.
Tea Tribes: 2 posts within the OBC/MOBC category are indicated for Tea Tribes candidates.
PwBD Reservation: 8 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, with 2 posts each for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, locomotor disability and related categories, blindness and low vision, and autism and related categories.
Ex-Servicemen Reservation: 4 posts are reserved for ex-servicemen.
